The school year is just about over, and it’s generally one of the best moments of the calendar year, because a huge source of stress is off everyone’s shoulders, at least for the next few months. But what should people do with all that time off? After a long, grueling school schedule, having all the free time that comes with summer break is a very foreign concept.

The easiest option is to do nothing except sleep and eat on occasion, but where’s the fun in that? Travelling is the thing to do, because there’s new things to see and places to go.

Going out of the country is always popular, so flying to, say, the Bahamas would be a week of fun. If high temperatures aren’t your thing, Canada is always an option. It’s not really hot or cold during the summer, and there are a lot of tourist spots like the CN Tower and the Hockey Hall of Fame.

If leaving the United States isn’t really your thing, there are more than plenty of places to see in the U.S. California, Florida, New York, and Washington are all great, and even Illinois has its own experiences. There aren’t very many things that are better than watching the Cubs play on an evening in July. In Florida, there’s Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld, and there’s also Clearwater Beach and the city of Miami. Disneyland is just one of the highlights in California, which also has Universal Studios Hollywood and two Six Flags parks, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.
Basically, there are lots of places to see and go over the much-deserved summer break. The best part is the freedom to go almost anywhere because all the pressure of finals and projects and stuff like that is gone, and all the time in the world is available. The wait is almost over, only two more days left of school. Then people can finally leave cold, rainy Illinois to go somewhere warm with nothing but clear skies.
