A Season of Dominance: The North Girls Volleyball

September 29, 2021
Belvidere North’s 2021 Volleyball season officially started on Tuesday, August 24th, with a home game and 2 set win against Hononegah High School and have been on fire ever since. Currently as of September 24th, the girls team is undefeated with stats of 11-0 in the conference. Their most recent game was Thursday, September 23rd also against the Hononegah High School on the Indians courts. Both set one and set two finished with scores of 25-23.
It’s not surprising their team has been so successful as a whole, due to all their players being amazing individual athletes. Almost all of the starters on the team are D1 college volleyball commits. Jayden Flynn is committed to play at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas. Grace Betke is committed to Texas Tech University. Kaitlin Leider, committed to Bradley University in Illinois, says, “We are now halfway through the NIC-10 Conference season and it is flying by. We have really pushed ourselves every match to play Belvidere North Volleyball. To us, that means staying consistent, focused, being aggressive, and having fun while doing it. Being undefeated up to this point has solidified our goals for this season, which is postseason success. Post season officially starts the week of October 25th with regionals. I believe our future is bright, and I am so blessed to represent the Belvidere North Volleyball program.” Rachel Scott, committed to University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, says, “Having as much success as we’ve had and being undefeated early in the season is an amazing feeling, especially with it being my senior year. At the same time, it puts a huge target on or back from other teams, which makes everyone work even harder for our goals.”
The girls play their 12th Conference game against Harlem High School next Wednesday. We’ll see if they keep the undefeated streak going!
