Belvidere North at the IHSA 2A Sectional Cross Country Meet

      Qualifying members from the Belvidere North boys and girls cross country teams competed in the annual IHSA 2A Sectional meet on Saturday, Oct. 30th, in Woodstock, IL.

      The annual IHSA 2A Sectional meet was hosted by Woodstock North High School on Saturday, Oct. 30th on a hilly three-mile course at Emricson Park in Woodstock, IL. This is the same course and location where the Regional meet was held on Saturday, Oct. 23rd.

      The Belvidere North boys cross country team and Alyssa Pryor from the Belvidere North girls team competed at the Sectional meet after qualifying for it in the Regional meet.

      There were two races that occurred at the meet: the 2A Sectional boys and girls races.

      Winning the boys race was Deerfield High School with a score of 55 points followed by Crystal Lake Central, Grayslake Central, Belvidere North with a score of 154 points, and Woodstock High School. Finishing in 11th place for the Belvidere North boys team was Caden McNulty (‘22) with a time of 16:40. Following shortly behind McNulty was Brandon Massman (‘22), Orlando Hernandez (‘23), Nick Lenzen (‘22), Luke Smith (‘22), Will Ward (‘24), and Caden Lendman (‘22).

      Crystal Lake South won the girls race with Grayslake Central, Vernon Hills, Lake Villa, and Crystal Lake Central placing behind them. Belvidere North’s Alyssa Pryor (‘24) finished the girls race in 77th place with a time of 21:14.

      The top five finishing teams in the IHSA 2A Sectional meet qualify to advance to the IHSA State Finals meet. The Belvidere North boys team finishing in fourth place for the Sectional meet qualified them to advance to the IHSA State Finals meet.

      The IHSA State Finals meet will be on Saturday, Nov. 6th at Detweiller Park in Peoria, IL. Seven athletes of the Belvidere North boys team will compete in the 2A race scheduled for noon on Nov. 6th.
