American Horror Story is a horror series that  portrays a different story line, different characters, and a different setting every season. The seasons include: “Murder House” (2011), “Asylum” (2012–13), “Coven”(2013–14),  “Freak Show” (2014–15), “Hotel” (2015–16), and “Roanoke” (2016). There is a new season that came out as well called “Cult” which premiered on FX on September 5 at 10:00 P.M. The first episode was called “Election Night” and the reason why? Well according to Ryan Murphy, the creator of the show, he said:

“The episode will take place in a very eerie macabre way on election night. There’s something terrible that happens in the lives of our characters on election night, which in itself was a horror story, so it’s like a horror story upon a horror story.”

The story takes place in Michigan and it focuses on a cult that terrorizes a suburb in the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election. People that are going to be watching the show should expect to see a connection between the new season and the fourth season, “Freak Show”, the new season is just set in a more modern time.

Because the show is based around this past election, there will be characters that are based on Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, but there will be no one actually playing them. In an interview in April, 2017, Murphy said that the season will be representative of both sides of the political divide.

Most of the American Horror Story actors and actresses appear in more than one season. Some of the returning actors and actresses include: Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Frances Conroy, Mare Winningham, Emma Roberts and Chaz Bono.

The creator also announced in January of 2017, that there will be an eighth season and possibly even a ninth one.

Gabrielle Cooper said,

“I loved the first episode it was definitely not what I expected.”

Hannah Knaup said,

“I honestly found the first episode interesting, I also liked how they based it off of the last election.”

New episodes come out every Tuesday. Make sure not to miss it.
