Spring break is a vacation period for students to have a week to relax.  When people think of spring break, they think about warm weather, traveling, and a week of no responsibilities.  Unfortunately, Belvidere usually has snow on the ground at this time, so if you stay local it is just another winter break.

Samantha Baker (‘20) was one of many people who went somewhere warm for spring break.  Baker traveled all the way to Africa for her week off. In Africa, she went on four Safaris and saw animals like giraffes, elephants, zebras, rhino, monkeys, etc.  For the safaris they stayed in a lodge within the preservation. After that, she went to Dubai and stayed in the city for a couple days. In the city they went on a boat and jet skied, “I got very burnt,” said Baker.  After Dubai, they had a layover in Thailand for a day so she got to see a Temple exhibit. Lastly, she went to Australia and went to Bondi Beach. At Bondi beach they ate and shopped around to end their trip.

Kaci Tomman (‘20) also went somewhere warm for break. Tomman went to Orlando Florida with her family.  Tomman spent time relaxing by the pool and eating at amazing restaurants. She also went to Disney Springs and shopped till she dropped.  Whenever she goes to Florida, her family always has to visit the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. “This trip was actually my 25th time going to Disney,” said Tomman.

Kayla Hesano (‘21) also went to Florida.  Instead of Orlando, Hesano went to Daytona where her aunts, uncles, and cousins live.  In daytona, she went glider flying and kayaking. She got to see Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where her dad went to college.  She also got to see the airport her dad grew up and had fun looking at all the planes. “My favorite part of the trip was getting to spend quality time with my family that I don’t get to see as often,” said Hesano.

Even though no one ever wants to stay home for spring break, there are many things to do in and around Belvidere.  If you want to stay out of the cold, there are many new movies out like, “Us,” “Five Feet Apart,” “Captain Marvel,” “Pet Sematary,” “Wonder Park,” etc.  If you want to go out, you could go see a sport tournament or meet. If both of those ideas don’t sound good, spring break is a good time to hangout with family and friends.
