Twitter has sent many using the platform into a frenzy as those are fighting on which fast food chain has the best chicken sandwich.

Popeyes has even seen employees fighting with customers over a shortage of chicken used for their chicken sandwiches, related to the debate on social media.

The debate gained popularity this month with the debut of Popeye’s chicken sandwich on August 12.

The fans of the Popeye’s sandwich declared it to be the best in comparison to Chick-Fil-A and Wendy’s while others disagreed, sending the internet into a fight that has exploded.

Chick-Fil-A tweeted on Monday a picture of the no-frills recipe of the sandwich.

“Bun + Chicken + Pickles = all the love for the original,” the tweet said.

Popeye’s tweeted in reply, “… y’all good?” in response to the chain’s new sandwich.

The debate came with prompting other chains to weigh in.

Wendy’s also tweeted about their spicy chicken sandwich that has recently come back on their menu after some help from Chance the Rapper, petitioning for it to come back.

They tweeted, “y’all out here fighting about which of these fools has the second best chicken sandwich.”

Popeyes was quick to fire back at Wendy’s, replying saying, “Sounds like someone just ate one of our biscuits. Cause y’all looking thirsty.”’

But Wendy’s hit back, saying, “lol, guess that means the food’s as dry as the jokes.”

Shake shack stepped in, tweeting, “If you’re lookin’ for a chicken sandwich (without the beef), you know where to find us.”

McDonald’s and Burger King have not joined in on the fight of the fast food restaurant chicken sandwiches.

“I think the whole thing on Twitter was funny but it got people to be fighting over nothing,” said Sidney Smith (‘20).

People took to Twitter to vote on which of the fast food chains had the best chicken sandwich, arguing with others on why their choice was superior.

The fast food chain that managed to spread the mayhem has experienced a massive chicken outage for the demand of the sandwich.

The shortage has led to fight between employees and customers for the sandwich.

Videos show employees climbing through the drive-through window, fighting with the employees as onlookers record the events.

Other videos showed the employees calmly telling employees they are out while the customer explodes in a rage, other customers doing the same.

“Personally I think the fighting is uncalled for because it’s just a sandwich,” said Briana Raegan (‘21).

A man has taken it to a whole new level by suing the chain, saying “I can’t get happy.” He sued over the shortage and no being able to get the sandwich, being told by employees to return another day since there was no more chicken.

Popeyes was led to take off the item off the menu temporarily since it’s debut two weeks ago.
