Many people may be questioning if there is going to be trick or treating , or how it is going to look for this year. Lots of people have come up with many creative ways on how to make trick or treating safe and covid free. Some ideas that people had were to put a hand sanitizer station at the door so that kids can sanitize their hands before grabbing candy from the bowl. Others have suggested putting candy on sticks and sticking them all over their yard so there are no contacts with them and others. Lastly someone had mentioned sticking lollipops in pumpkins and having the kids grab the candy from that. All of these ideas are great for having a safe but still fun halloween night.

Now many people may be wondering if trick or treating is allowed because of the pandemic, well as of right now yes. Local health departments suggest wearing a mask, stay home if you are sick, do not hand out candy if someone in the family is sick, limit trick or treating groups to household members only, keep a social distance away from others , and avoid homemade treats. Following these suggestions will insurer you a safe but yet fun Halloween.

The times for trick or testing have changed this year. Here are the times for trick or treating around the area. Belvidere: 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Caledonia: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Loves Park: 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, Poplar Grove: 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and Rockford: 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Although Halloween is not the same as years in the past. It is still a magical night that  can cause many smiles and laughter. When you try and treat it as any other year you won’t even think about all the new safety precautions. So, enjoy the night and spend time with the family.
