“Tonight, I tested positive for Covid-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this together,” said President Trump.
While Trump is supposed to be in quarantine and confined to the White House, he returned to the Oval Office, breaking his quarantine.
“I’m standing in front of the Oval Office at the White House, which is always an exciting place to be,” Trump said in a video he tweeted. His return to the Oval Office has started a flurry of precautions by his staff in the office where the president and at least a dozen other employees have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past week.
Donald Trump still does not take the virus seriously even after having it. He has been eager to beat the disease on his own and return to normal as soon as possible. After returning from his three-night hospital stay for treatment on Monday, he told Americans that they should not fear the virus.
President Trump has also talked up the benefits of an experimental drug given to him during his treatment, REGN-COV2, made by Regeneron. He said his illness may have been a “blessing from God,” because it enabled him to discover the “right drug” for combating it.
Officials say that Trump is tested for Covid-19 regularly but refused to say whether he wears a mask or not. Staff members at the White House have taken safety precautions such as some of the staff have started working from home and some wear full hazmat suits while in the White House.
