This election year, many people are eager to get their vote in, and are excited to see the results. This year’s election is definitely one of the most controversial elections. Starting off with Boone County early voting started September 24th, and goes till November 2nd. They are open 8:30am to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday, except Saturday October 31st, it’s 9:00am to noon. In Winnebago County early voting started September 24th and ends November 1st. They are open Friday, Oct 19 – Nov 2 8:30am – 7pm; Saturday and Sunday, Oct 24 & 25 9am – 5pm; Saturday and Sunday, Oct 31 & Nov 1 9am – 5pm. In total 107,214 people voted early in Illinois. Many people are saying that , that is way more than the 2018 election. Due to Covid-19 many people are choosing to avoid crowded election day polling places. To make up for this they are choosing the mailbox instead of the ballot box. Statewide, the number of applications for mail ballots is just shy of 2 million, at 1,998,624 requests. So far 85,951 of those mail ballots have been returned this year from voters across the state.
