Christmas Events Around the Area
December 7, 2020
Although Christmas is going to look a little different this year there are still things you and your family can do to make Christmas seem more normal. One of the things is going to Christmas light shows. One of the best ones around is the Festival of Lights at Sinnissippi Park. Opening night was November 27th and it will run through December 31st. The hours are 5-11pm on all days except Christmas Eve, and Christmas when the lights are on for a 24 hour span and New Years Eve when the lights are on from 5pm- Midnight. Kids can also drop off their letters to Santa until Dec. 19th. Santa will also be at Sinnissippi Park to wave to at the end of the show. The drive- through is free but donations are accepted and appreciated. Belvidere Park will light up the christmas tree on Friday December 4th at 7pm. A live feed of the tree lighting by Mayor Mike Chamberlain will be on the Belvidere Hometown Christmas Facebook page. The video will also be uploaded to the City of Belvidere’s Youtube channel. Belvedere Park will also have a drive through on Dec. 4th from 5-8pm and then the Belvidere YMCA will have a goodie bag pick up from 1-7pm when the Mayor lights the tree. Riverside Ice Arena will also be open for a skating special. So while Christmas might not be the same this year there are still fun things to do to make it seem a little more normal.
